Glasgow & District Beekeepers' Association

join us

Glasgow & District Beekeepers’ Association is a friendly group of mainly hobbyist beekeepers. Most people keep less than four colonies. Our membership is spread far and wide, from all over the Glasgow area but also from Largs, Helensburgh, Lanarkshire.

We meet once a month from September to May, on the second Wednesday of each month. Meetings start at 7.30pm and are usually finished around 9.30pm.

Our current venue is Langside Sports Club. G43 2HA.

Email our secretary  info@glasgowbeekeepers.org.uk to find out more.

Meetings are varied, we usually have a speaker but sometimes we have practical evenings. Topics are eclectic and we have had presentations about honey, wax, various beekeeping techniques and manipulations but also presentations from the Scottish Government’s Bee Inspectors and Commercial beekeepers. We’ve had presentations from members of the academic scene to keep us up to date with the most recent scientific findings in various fields such as Genetic Modification of plants, research into neonicotinoids and methods of dealing with the latest pests that threaten our bees.

There is always time for a cup of tea and a chat with other members; time to catch up with others and find out what they’ve been up to and to compare the well-being of our bees; discussion of the hot topics, be they research findings published in the Scottish Beekeeper Magazine, what the last speaker had to say, or Integrated Pest Management techniques. The discussion is always varied!

If you would like to come along to one of our meetings, please do. You’re sure to be made welcome. (Attending a single meeting costs £2.) Everyone is very approachable, so ask plenty of questions!

Our current annual subscription is £12.
